Gbeya

Creator & Knowledge Business Growth Strategist

remotefull time$47,000 – $63,000 USD a year

Help businesses turn expertise, audiences and knowledge into functioning commercial operations.

Gbeya is looking for a Creator & Knowledge Business Growth Strategist who understands something fundamental:

Having expertise is not the same as having a business. Having followers is not the same as owning an audience. Having a course is not the same as operating an education business. And having clients does not necessarily mean the systems behind the business are working effectively.

Gbeya exists to address that gap.

We provide the operating environment behind audience-led businesses — bringing together the systems professionals use to manage audiences, customers, bookings, programs, communications, commerce, communities, content, automation and business operations.

We are looking for someone who understands the commercial world of coaches, consultants, trainers, educators, creators, independent experts and other knowledge-led businesses — and can help those businesses build stronger operating models around what they already know and sell.

This is not simply a marketing role. It sits at the intersection of business strategy, customer growth, knowledge commerce, audience development, operations and technology.

What you’d be doing

Your work will focus on helping Gbeya and the businesses we serve turn expertise and audiences into better commercial operations. You will:

  • Understand how coaches, consultants, educators, trainers and creators currently operate their businesses.
  • Identify operational and commercial problems preventing those businesses from growing efficiently.
  • Help prospective and existing customers understand how Gbeya can support their business models.
  • Develop practical growth strategies around audience ownership, customer acquisition, conversion, monetization, retention and expansion.
  • Work with businesses to structure their offers, customer journeys, programs, memberships, coaching services and other knowledge products.
  • Help customers move from fragmented workflows toward more integrated business operations.
  • Develop repeatable business models, templates, playbooks and implementation approaches for different categories of audience-led businesses.
  • Work across CRM, audience management, email, bookings, learning programs, community, commerce, automation, analytics and other Gbeya capabilities.
  • Collaborate with product, growth, education, media and commercial teams.
  • Study emerging patterns across the creator economy, coaching, consulting, professional education and independent business markets.
  • Translate those observations into customer acquisition strategies, product opportunities, educational resources and commercial initiatives.
  • Help Gbeya identify what successful independent experts actually need to build sustainable businesses.

The role requires someone who can move comfortably between strategy and execution. We are not looking for someone who only produces presentations about what businesses should do. We want someone capable of helping businesses actually do it.

Who this role is for

You may already describe yourself as a Business Growth Strategist, Creator Economy Strategist, Knowledge Business Consultant, Coach or Consultant, Digital Business Strategist, Course Business Strategist, Audience Growth Specialist, Lifecycle Marketing Specialist, Creator Business Manager, Online Business Manager, Customer Success Strategist, Business Operations Consultant, Marketing Automation Specialist or Independent Consultant.

Or your current title may be completely different. We care considerably more about what you understand and what you can demonstrate than the wording of your existing job title.

You may be a strong fit if

  • You understand how expertise becomes a commercial offer.
  • You understand the difference between building an audience and building a business.
  • You can look at an existing coaching, consulting, education or creator business and identify where money, customers, opportunities or time are being lost.
  • You understand customer journeys beyond simply generating leads.
  • You are comfortable thinking about acquisition, conversion, service delivery, retention and recurring revenue as connected parts of one business.
  • You understand at least several of the systems typically involved in operating a modern knowledge business: CRM, email, scheduling, courses, payments, communities, websites, funnels, automation, analytics or content.

Most importantly, you are someone who builds.

Experience we value

There is no single required career path. Relevant experience could include coaching or consulting; running an independent professional business; building or managing online courses; creator or influencer businesses; professional education; digital marketing; CRM and lifecycle marketing; customer success; business operations; agency services; community or membership businesses; SaaS; revenue operations; marketing automation; audience development; digital products; or podcast and media businesses.

Experience generating revenue from your own expertise, services or digital products is particularly relevant. So is experience helping other people do it.

What we will ask you to demonstrate

We don't believe a résumé alone tells us whether someone can do this work. Shortlisted applicants will therefore be invited to complete a practical, time-bounded business exercise.

You might receive a fictional scenario involving an established coach, consultant or educator with paying customers but fragmented business operations. We may ask you to analyze the situation and explain: what is actually wrong, where the commercial opportunity is, what you would change first, how you would structure the customer journey, what should be automated, what should remain human, how you would improve the operating model, and how you would measure whether your changes worked.

The exercise is designed to demonstrate your thinking and professional capability. It will not require you to perform unpaid commercial work for a real Gbeya customer.

About the pay

The salary for this role is the same wherever you are. We do not adjust it by country or city: the work is the same work, so the rate is the same rate. Where an offer lands inside the range reflects what you bring to it, not where you happen to sit.

One more thing worth knowing before you apply

Some of the strongest people who apply to Gbeya could also build something substantial for themselves. We do not see those as contradictory, so there is a second, entirely separate route — the Gbeya Business Builder Programme — for using what you know to build a consulting, coaching, education, creator or agency business of your own.

It is not employment and it is not a step towards it. You can be considered for it whether or not you apply for this role, and whether or not we hire you. Details are on its own page, and expressing interest there has no bearing on this application.

What happens after you apply

  • A person reads it. Nothing is filtered out automatically, and no automated system can decline you — only a human can.
  • You see exactly where it stands, including the moment someone first opens it, on your own dashboard.
  • You hear back either way. A decline comes with a real reason, not silence.

Would you rather build your own?

The Business Builder Programme is for using what you know to build a consulting, coaching, education or creator business of your own. Separate from employment, and you do not have to apply for this role to be considered.

Not this role, or not right now?

You can ask to be kept in mind, send an open application describing what you actually do, or look at the partner programme if you would rather deliver for clients than take a salary.

The other ways in

Know someone who should see this?

Most people find the role that changes things because somebody sent it to them.
